Left Coast vintage British car guy Jim Palam blogs about the annual GoF pre-1956 MG festival.
Almost four decades ago vintage MG owners from Southern California joined forces to produce the first pre-1956 MG event on the West Coast. Best known as GoF West or the Gathering of the Faithful, it brings together hundreds of classic MGs and MG & British car enthusiasts for an incredible festival. The first event was in 1973, establishing a tradition of annual gatherings that has not been interrupted. Bill & Mary Hilland's rare Tickford-bodied '38 MG TA and #99 Bad Boy racer, above and below.
GoF annual festivals, held in the western U. S. and Canada, have hosted an incredible array of pre-1956 MGs since 1973 for owners, the public and British car enthusiasts from around the world. The event welcomes original “drivers” as well as body-off show cars that have been restored to better than new.
Highly modified MGs, even those now powered by American V8 engines, above, and supercharged, below, can always be found at these gatherings.
