Ford has completed redesigned the popular Fusion for the 2013 model year. The most striking change to anyone is the car’s appearance. The 2013 Fusion’s body features sweeping lines from front to rear bumper, as well as a prominent and aggressive-looking grill. The car is slightly longer and wider than the 2012 model, providing more interior space and greater stability on the road.
The 2013 Ford Fusion comes with three different engines. The base engine is a 2.5 liter four cylinder block that produces 175 horsepower and 175 pound-foot of torque. SE models come with a turbocharged 2.0 liter four cylinder engine, with peak output of 231 horsepower and 270 pound-foot of torque, providing noticeably better acceleration. Titanium models come with the most powerful engine option, a turbocharged 2.0 liter four cylinder engine with EcoBoost technology. Power tops out at 231 horsepower and an impressive 270 pound-foot of torque.
With the redesign of the Fusion, Ford has loaded the car with plenty of technological gizmos to keep drivers and passengers happy and safe. Standard features include park assist, adaptive cruise control, blind spot warning system, Ford’s voice command system Sync, automatic headlights and the infotainment system MyFord Touch. Optional equipment is extensive, with highlights including exterior entry keypad, heated front seats, dual-zone climate control, USB ports and an SD card reader. Standard safety features abound, including ABS brakes for all four wheels, front seat side airbags, front knee airbags, front airbags, side curtain airbags, traction control, stability control, a drowsy driving detection system and a system that warns of cross traffic behind the car. The Ford Sync system also comes with a safety feature that automatically calls 911 through the driver’s cell phone in the event of a crash.
Ford endows the 2013 Fusion sedan with several features to make the driving experience both thrilling and more cost effective. A MacPherson strut setup is located in the front of the vehicle, while the rear receives a multilink suspension setup. Front and rear stabilizer bars help complete the car’s suspension, which has a crisp and responsive feel, without transferring bumps in the road to the seats. The car also has an electric-assist power steering setup that is more responsive than most, giving the driver a greater sense of control on the road. The EPA estimates fuel mileage to be at 22 MPG for city driving and 33 MPG for highway driving, making it an economical way to travel. And speaking of traveling, the Fusion has a highway range of about 544 miles, meaning you have to stop less often for gas.
