Coys to hold largest historic Porsche auction at Porsche Classics at the Castle.
In the year of the 60th anniversary of the first production 356 Carrera, Coys auctioneers have lined up a selection of 60 of the finest and most rare examples of the Stuttgart manufacturer. Included are well-loved tractors through to the state of the art Carrera GT supercar, with particular attention on the classic and pure pre-1974 cars.
Chris Routledge, Managing Partner at Coys, said: “Coys have long been the market leaders in the auction sale of historic Porsches and hold the longest established single Porsche sale in the market, The Excellence of Porsche.
“This year our prestigious auction is being held at one of the world’s most exclusive Porsche events and we have lined up a selection of cars with remarkable history and associations with some of the marque’s greatest moments and personalities.”
The auction will feature a ‘66 FIA Porsche 911 SWB Ex-Roy Lane British Hillclimb champion, which is estimated at £95,000 to £120,000, an original right-hand-drive ‘60 Porsche 356 B T5 1600 Super Cabriolet, estimated at £140,000 to £160,000 and a ‘59 Porsche 356 A Convertible D, estimated at £130,000 to £160,000.
Amongst the pre-1974 cars, there’s a ‘70 Porsche 911S factory car known as the The Vic Elford “Quick Vics” 911S, above. Born in London, Vic Elford was one of the fastest drivers of the 1960s-1970s and became a Porsche legend nicknamed “Quick Vic”. This car was assigned to him by Porsche KG Stuttgard as his daily company car. With remarkable documented history, it is one of the most exciting and interesting examples available on the market today.
Other important cars going under the hammer include a ‘82 Porsche 911 3.0 SC ‘Rijkspolitie’ Dutch Police, a high speed pursuit vehicle estimated at £80,000 to £100,000, a ‘94 Porsche 964 Speedster, one of just fourteen right-hand-drive cars produced, estimated at £160,000 to £180,000 and a ‘56 Porsche 356 Carrera Coupe Grand Sport that spent 20 years in the well known Rene Mauries collection.
Also on offer is a ‘06 Porsche Euro-Spec Carrera GT Europe, a truly exceptional example of one of the greatest Supercars. With only 6,300 miles, it's estimated at £500,000 to £550,000.
Coys’ historic Porsche auction will be on Sunday September 6th during the Porsche Classics at the Castle event in the grounds of the Hedingham Castle in Halstead, Essex, CO9 3DJ, UK.
