Before Pontiac introduced the iconic T/A, Jerry Titus raced a real Trans-Am Firebird that started life as a Camaro.
Raced with help from Pontiac in the 1968 Trans-Am Series and 24-hour Enduro at Daytona (Third Overall, First in Class), this real Trans-Am competitor was built and raced by legendary racing-journalist Jerry Titus and partner and Sprint car racer, Jon Ward.
Titus defected from the Ford factory team, formed TG Racing and, with Ward,
campaigned a unique ’68 Pontiac that had been converted from a Camaro. In his first Trans-Am race at Riverside, Ward had driven the Camaro to a fourth-place finish. Unlike all other Trans-Am racecars, this Camaro/Firebird has a Sprint car roll cage.
It has been fully restored to its original 1968 Trans-Am trim and is ready to wage war on the historic circuit. For more information, please visit http://www.fantasyjunction.com/cars/1322-Pontiac%20-Firebird%20Trans-Am%20-8-Cylinder
