In 1969 Dodge replaced its fastback-roof Charger 500 on the NASCAR circuit with the winged Charger Daytona. It became the fastest stock car in the world. And the production version is one of the most unique muscle cars ever built.
Troy Hawkes' Dad purchased a brand new Dodge Charger Daytona in 1969, when Troy was five years old. He has vague memories of the purchase and not much better memories of the car itself as his father soon replaced it with a more family-friendly Plymouth Fury. Troy's best memories are of standing on the rear seat and peering over the front seat at the screen at the local drive-in theater.
After a number of years and car projects, Troy is reliving his good days when he rode with his Dad in his new Dodge Charger Daytona. He finally has his own; his stunning 440 Daytona looks right at home at Daytona. Now he takes his kids for rides in the Daytona.
